What is Dondon Festival des Grottes?
The idea of this festival is to bring back Dondon Diaspora to "rediscover Dondon". The first edition in 2014 was looking not only to attract tourists, but also inspire the return of the Diaspora which gave birth to the slogan " Dondon I will return."
The Festival took place over 5 days and also included stories, music, dance, cinema, sport and art / crafts.

The Festival is from July 18-23, 2017.
How many caves in Dondon?
Dondon has more than 10 caves, notably the historic "Voute a Minguet" with Indian handprints.

Where is Dondon located?
Dondon is located in the department of Nord, about 30 km south from Cap-Haitien, and 290 km from Port-au-Prince (106 km by plane). Adjacent to the following municipalities: the Grande Rivière du Nord to the east, Saint-Raphaël ( east and south), Saint-Michel de l'Attalaye (south and west), Marmalade ( West ) Acul North, the Plaine du Nord and Milot ( north).
How do I get there?
The closest airport to Dondon is Cap Haitien, which offers daily flights from Miami via American Airlines. Port-au-Prince also offers multiple flights per day from many North American cities. Sunrise Airways is a Haitian airline that offers multiple daily flights (30 minutes) between Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitien.
Dondon is located about a 1 hour drive from Cap Haitien, and a 5 - 6 hour drive from Port-au-Prince. We highly recommend hiring a local driver instead of renting your own car, as the road to Dondon is mountainous and traffic laws are minimal. We can coordinate transportation for you from different areas of Haiti.

What is the purpose of ODID?
The purpose of the Organisation for Dondon Integral Development ( ODID ) is to promote and help the public at large discover the great heritage of the town of Dondon mainly through an annual festival and other cultural activities with a focus on ecotourism .
It aims to :
• Improve the living conditions and the capacity of the population
• Promote a variety of cultural products
• Contribute to the stability of sectoral organisations
• Encourage sustainable touristic and cultural activities
• Support the growth of tourism and ecotourism
